An exciting and thorough course for students who wish to learn the basic skills and knowledge of photo-imaging. You will learn how to use your camera effectively in a range of situations, study aspects of image capture including composition and subject matter, practice different computer editing software to carry out digital manipulation and understand how to present your final images. You will work towards challenging assignments and the knowledge and skills gained will support progression to Morley Photography level 2 & 3 courses, or potential future employment. Students will need to own a camera with access to manual controls. The course will finish with a public exhibition of your work. Printing and presentation costs are not included. If you are not entitled to a reduced fee but are finding it difficult to pay for your course in one go, we can offer a Staged Payment Agreement to split the costs into three payments if your course(s) costs £200 or more. Please talk to a member of enrolment staff about how your payments would be structured. You are liable for all payments under this agreement, even if you stop attending your class.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Use all camera controls and modes creatively
  • Identify different subject types and understand camera settings in relation to them
  • Apply composition techniques to create better pictures
  • Use different computer editing software to carry out digital manipulation
  • Identify different ways to present your final images and know the basic techniques for communicating via presentation of imagery
  • Capture, store and share images safely
