Philippe Close is a digital artist and web developer who teaches on three of our Creative Digital Media courses – Photoshop in 3 Days; Web Design; and Access to Creative Digital Media, where he is the lead tutor. He holds degrees in art from both Northumbria and Goldsmiths Universities, as well as a PGCE from Canterbury Christ Church University.

His teaching experience has included work at Carshalton, Barnet, and Kensington and Chelsea Colleges, as well as Brixton Prison, where he spent 12 years working as an Art and Design teacher and curriculum manager. He has had artworks displayed in the VTO Gallery and Tate Britain, and at the London Festival of Architecture, and has worked with the Hayward Gallery on Inclusion and Community Outreach. Outside of teaching, he has also worked as a freelance graphic designer and photo retoucher and is currently a freelance web developer for the community, charity and non-profit sector.

From September 2019 Philippe will also be teaching Yoga at Morley, having earned his qualifications specialising in the Scaravelli Tradition from the London Yoga Teacher Training Group.

As a tutor, Philippe is interested in developing curiosity, mental fluidity and creativity in students as learned skills, and this is a common thread in all of his teaching practices.
