What you will learn
For adults who are looking to develop a portfolio of digital media skills – this course will prepare and equip you to make a career change / to take the next step in your work / build skills for self-employment / will enable and guide you to apply for a higher education course. This one-year course (2.5 days a week) is delivered in partnership with the London College of Communication and offers a immersive foundation in a multi-disciplinary range of digital media skills including: animation, film, photography, graphics, publishing, web, branding all taught under a creative umbrella with live projects taught by experienced industry professionals in well-equipped up to date studios. The course culminates in a major exhibition which will show case your work in a public setting. (You can apply for a student loan or choose to pay fees for this course. If you are under 24 and this is your first level 3 programme you may not have to pay – please enquire)
Class format and activities
Ten exciting and challenging digital media units will form the backbone of a very busy year. You will work with digital technologies, in isolation and combination, to produce exciting work across the following disciplines: Digital Animation, Desktop Publishing, Digital Image manipulation and output, Web Design, Graphic Design; communicating messages with words and images, Photography and filmmaking; including working to a professional brief and location portraiture, branding yourself through digital portfolio building and taking part in an exhibition of your work. You will keep a sketchbook of ideas and inspirations and understand how to store and protect your work digitally. A key part of your daily work will be keeping a blog and social media presence to share your words and images as you develop your work.
